🏠 HOMELESS NOT HEARTLESS ❤️
In life, you will always find someone who is better or in a worse situation than you. Yes, life is all about PERSPECTIVE.
We moan about the higher power bill or end of month finances. We may find fault or crave for more material things. That latest iPhone or TV yep we got it have it.
How about when we wake up. What is your number 1 negative repetitive thought or complaint?
Yes, by nature we are beings that want and crave more; with the ‘help’ of consumerism, we can be left in a continuous cycle of ‘wanting’ and never been ‘satisfied’ until we have more.
So what does this have to do with Xmas Susana you may ask? ... Well, how about a slight detour on PERSPECTIVE.
🌜 LAST NIGHT 🌙
Last night together with some incredible heart full women and my gorgeous Dad we went out to deliver the food and care packs to the homeless.
Yep, these men and women for whatever reason (we are not going to judge why here) do not have a roof over their head, an abundance of hot water, toilet to flush, electricity, a safe bed to rest and a heartfelt place to call home. 🏡👪
Now, again without judging. Can you imagine what would be your thoughts at night before you find a place to sleep and your first rising thoughts? 😔
I don’t know what mine would be but I know for sure they would not be the ones I had last night or this morning.
I probably would not be meditating about my purpose, setting intentions nor planning my next point of a maximum of impact?
They would probably be more about instinct survival. Wondering where my next meal would be. 🥘🍕
For example, in our drop-off quest, we found a couple sleeping in the park and the moment we gave them the food bags they quickly started rummaging through it.
Then... it started to get a bit more personal.
👨 THE NAMES BEHIND THE FACES 👱
In Southport area, we came across an incredible man who said to us “I am old school, I have been here all my life”. He was looking for his son who also lived on the streets with him. I never thought that being homeless could also be generational, but I guess if that is all you know that is all you know.
This man was slim of small stature which I would be guessing in his early 40’s yet his face and expression could easily describe a man that has lived many more years in his life.
He was full of life and strong in character and then when we approached him with a bag full of food the ‘strong man’ broke down in joyful tears. Not only did his eyes water but his bottom lip could not stop moving as he cried with gratitude.
I don’t know about you but I am always curious and since I was a little girl wondered how other people live and believe. For a moment I did my usual transportation and attempted to put myself in his shoes and began to think of the endless nights having to fight life to eat and survive. But not tonight, as he was hugging his new found food like his latest found treasure. 💝
We asked Trevor where we could find his friends so we could continue our delivery and with so much delight and joy gave us names and a location where his street family lived.
I started to cry as he gave us some street-knowledge how they were ‘newbies’, newly homeless people that had not been ‘broken-in’ he said, a few new families, how “this is their first Xmas in the streets and they were scared”.
I still can’t comprehend what it would be like for me to not have a warm home and to not to have one for my children?
As I continued to ponder I was then introduced to a gorgeous, and I mean she was a beautiful young woman. Behind the exterior visage, all I saw was a true beauty. Her name, Laticia.
Laticia could be early 20’s. Behind the harshness, you could see a pure light. I sat next to her to give her back and give her a preview of what she was receiving. Then she shared with me her DREAM that it will stay with me forever!
She said her Xmas Wish is to “have a banquet where I would invite all of my friends and would sit and eat all day in peace”
As she continued to describe in detail her wish to me I quickly realised how different are their meal times.
Not only what they eat but HOW they eat!
We have the FREEDOM to sit down and relax if we choose to and enjoy our meals, we can serve and enjoy food platters with our friends and we do not need to rush or possibly overeat at one particular sitting in fear when our next meal would be.
This gorgeous woman TOUCHED MY HEART❣ in so many ways.
🤔 REVELATION 💛
So in short as you read from above.
It was me who received many GIFTS.
It was me who was starving for a new perspective in life.
It was me that became more GRATEFUL FOR LIVING.
Next time you see one in the streets or begging for food remember they are homeless but not HEARTLESS ❤️!!!!
